Caring & Sharing

Caring and Sharing

The issue is not about caring per se, because naturally everyone has something to care about; thus, it’s always what one cares about.

Caring is simply a part of being human; therefore, we invite everyone to take a moment to identify what he really cares about. Doing so, one would quickly realize that the first thing that comes to mind is fellow humans, and thereafter everything related to them.

That’s said, nothing is more important to an individual than his people, his extended family; more likely one thrives when people around him do so, that’s why sharing with others, especially the disadvantaged among us, is just contributing to one’s own wellness. Caring is sharing; whether we know it or not, the ultimate goal (joy) of life is being useful, and once we feel useless life becomes senseless and, for some people painful and unbearable.

This is why we, at AMA (America Meckhe Association), are gathered trying to guide each other to fulfill this human need, that is to learn how to share what we have with the less fortunate. Doing so, we strongly belief that there is no better place to start this journey than our beloved city Meckhe, a small town of around 15000 inhabitants in northern Senegal.

We, immigrants from Meckhe living in the US, have realized the need to contribute to the development of our town, and we’ve gathered in the form of an association and joined efforts in order to induce changes to our people’s daily livings, no matter how small. So, we created AMA for starters, and then began working toward accomplishing small projects one at a time; and so far, thanks to our members contributions, we’ve been able to accomplish some tasks, too smalls certes compared to what we have in mind; nonetheless, a very good beginning.

For instance, we accomplished the following under the supervision of Meckhe city council:

  • building (financing) two multi stalls restrooms fully equipped with modern plumbing accessories in two schools (Meckhe  VII & Meckhe XI).
  • Buying four (4) child-birth hospital beds (Affinity™ Four Birthing bed)
  • Buying a lot of 14 computers for a computer lab classroom.
  • Buying and distributing school supplies.
  • Buying and distributing medical and cleaning supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Obviously, we know that this is not nearly enough, it’s just a first step to a long journey to further deepen our involvement in the community. Besides, our fiscal year (FY) 2023-2024 plan includes building more restrooms for other schools in the area.

In order to keep sharing, continue giving back to the community, and increase or keep the pace intensity of the good work, we invite everyone, and immigrants from Meckhe and its suroundings even more so, to join or support this noble cause.

God Bless All.
